She grew up in Elling, a small village located in Elling Parish outside Frederikshavn. She was born to Bent Nielsen and Laila Inge-lise Matzigkeit. Connie's father worked as a bus driver while her mother was a clerk, but she also acted once in a while and was also a musical reviewer. She entered the world of acting by holding the hands of her mother, acting in the local revue, and playing a variety of roles.

When she turned 18, she was determined that she would become an actress, and to fulfill her dreams, she moved to Paris, France, where she worked on a few small modeling and acting assignments.
