This was one of the factors that prompted his shift to pharmaceuticals. The recipients of these vaccines included organizations like UNICEF, which was a testament to the quality of vaccines produced by the Serum Institute. The model was so successful that it was eventually adopted by international organizations. Even before the pandemic hit, the Serum Institute of India was already exporting its vaccines to over 100 countries. Since the pandemic, the biotech company has produced more than 1.5 billion doses, making it the largest vaccine manufacturer in the entire world.
