Both his parents, Bud Carvey and Billie Dahl, were high school teachers, and he has four siblings by the names of Brad Carvey, Mark Carvey, Lori Carvey, and Scott Carvey. He moved to the San Francisco Bay area at a very young age with his entire family and grew up in San Carlos, California.
