Darren Everett Criss is an American singer-songwriter and actor. 

Darren Criss rose to prominence as a cast member of the television series 'Glee (2010–2015)' as Blaine Andreson. He's also a founding member and co-owner of StarKid Productions, a Chicago-based musical theater company.

He gained popularity for the lead role of Harry Potter and for writing most of the music and lyrics for StarKid's musical production of 'A Very Potter Musical'. Darren Everett has also appeared on Broadway as a replacement for 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch' and 'How to Succeed in Business Without Trying'. Criss co-founded Elsie Fest in 2015, which bills itself as "New York City's first outdoor music festival celebrating stage and screen tunes."

Criss made his film debut in the comedy 'Girl Most Likely' on September 7, 2012. 'Girl Most Likely' had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and was released in theaters nationwide on July 19, 2013. The film, formerly titled 'Imogene', starred Darren Criss, Kristen Wiig, Annette Bening, and Matt Dillon.

Born in San Francisco, California, Criss spent his early life in San Francisco, apart from 1988 to 1992, when the family lived in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Darren Criss was educated in Roman Catholic schools. He finished elementary school at Stuart Hall for Boys and graduated from Saint Ignatius College Preparatory San Francisco in 2005. Criss earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Performance from the University of Michigan in 2009, with minors in Musicology and Italian.

Criss' passion for music began at a young age; at the age of five, he began taking violin lessons and spent the following 15 years studying classical music. Criss trained himself to play the guitar, piano, mandolin, harmonica, and drums, among other instruments.  Criss was heavily involved in music in high school, serving as concertmaster of the school orchestra, fronting his band, and being chosen 'most likely to win a Grammy' by his classmates. At 15, Criss began learning music composition and wrote his first song, which became the title track of his first EP, 'Human', which debuted in 2009. Criss was also interested in the performing arts.
