Born on August 10, 1972, in Traverse City, Michigan, Derrick J. Wyatt attended Joe Kubert School of Art in New Jersey.
At Joe Kubert School Cartoons of Graphic Art, Wyatt mastered craftsmanship under Argentine comic artist Jose Delbo and American artist and professional illustrator Kim DeMulder.
After graduating from art school, Derrick interned at the American animation production company Spumco, L.A., California. Later, he left his position at Spumco and took a job as an originator at Warner Bros, the Film Production company.
Derrick joined the crew of the American animated TV series 'Ben 10: Omniverse', which aired on Cartoon Network from 2012-2014. He also designed characters for 'Ben 10: Ultimate Alien' and 'Ben 10: Alien force'. He was also the art director and lead character designer for the superhero animated TV series 'Transformers: Animated'. Besides Ben 10 and 'Transformers: Animated', Derrick worked for the Teen Titans, Go Go Moba Boy, and Mucha Lucha franchises. He also joined hands with the character-designing team for 'Legion Of Super-Heroes' and 'Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated'. Unfortunately, Derrick passed away on December 16, 2021.
