Dianxi Xiaoge is a viral YouTuber and video blogger from Yunnan, rural China.
After graduating from the Sichuan Police College in 2012, Dianxi Xiaoge sent her résumé to other regions except for Yunnan since she had no desire to return home. Despite having a degree in being a police officer, she didn't work for the police once she graduated. Instead, she landed a marketing position with a fledgling Internet business, where she spent more than four years before moving on to other professions. Her plan was to purchase a residence in Chongqing and relocate her parents there so they could live with her.
The April-born Dianxi Xiaoge became aware that she had too few recollections of her parents after learning that her father had a serious illness. Dianxi Xiaoge, who had been away from her family for eight years for education and work, came back to her village Shidian County in 2016 with the goal of not looking back and the overriding desire to spend as much time as possible with her family.
When she got home, she was at first unsure about how to make a livelihood because she had seen her parents' problems. She began offering regional goods online, like Yunnan brown sugar and fruits plucked from the mountain. Even after posting advertisements on WeChat's Moments feature, Dianxi Xiaoge discovered that sales were still low and that she had been mocked for her efforts.
She took advantage of the popularity of short films in 2016 and started uploading her own in an effort to boost sales. She was especially motivated by those who had found success online, such as comedian Papi Jiang. Since Dianxi Xiaoge had always loved to cook, she started creating culinary videos from a place where she felt at ease.
She maintained producing videos, highlighting the serene, rural way of life. She increased her subscription base to 100,000 in a year.
After launching her YouTube channel and started uploading short videos in 2018, the food blogger, Dianxi Xiaoge, went from having no subscribers to having one million owing to her cooking style.
She received a lot of attention after the video of her preparing hamburgers for her grandparents went viral in China and beyond. Her grandparents had never eaten hamburgers because they had lived all their lives in the hamlet and considered hamburgers a Western meal.
At Weibo's 2019 Weibo Celebrity Festival, Dianxi Xiaoge won three prizes: Annual Video Celebrity, Promoted Celebrity, and Top Ten Influential Food V.
