Eric Fleming made his debut audition as a challenge to one of the other actors but lost the challenge, which cost him a bet of $100. He made his acting debut in a road company production of the play 'Happy Birthday' in 1946.

Eric was cast for almost seven to eight seasons of 'Rawhide', In the tragic year of 1966, he appeared in the TV series 'Bonanza' for the episode of 'The Pursued' and 'Peace'. He was shooting for the two-part adventure program 'High Jungle'. There, he met his fate as he accidentally got drowned in the Huallaga River. He also appeared in the 'Glass Bottom Boat' as Suave Spy, for which he got very famous.
