Being a famous composer, and rock singer for his hit singles ‘Love is Alive’ and ‘Dream Weaver’, released in the 1970s. Though having studied psychology and medicine at college, Gary pursued a career as a musician.
As a youth, he was part of the Broadway production of Fanny. Gary conceived his album 'The Dream Weaver' after being in England for seven years. It was a time when Gary was a part of the British rock band 'Spooky Tooth'.
In 1970, Gary Wright collaborated with the former George Harrison of the Beatle fame in his triple album ‘All Things Must Pass’ as a keyboardist.  From 1989 to the 1990s, songs written by Wright, which include ‘Can’t Find the Judge, Love is Alive, have invariably featured in songs sung by hip hop artists.
From 1982 to 2000, Gary Wright started concentrating on film soundtracks and focused on world music. After his successful score in the thriller movie ‘Endangered Species, released in 1982, he provided another successful score for the movie ‘Fire and Ice, released in 1986.
