In 1976, nachos were introduced at the Arlington Stadium in Texas, and nachos quickly became the most popular snack and were sold even more than popcorn. Even today, nachos are one of the most famous snacks worldwide. Now nachos have a lot of varieties and are made with different ingredients like processed cheese sauce, an invention by Frank Liberto. Ignacio Anaya opened a restaurant, El Nacho after Victory Club was shut down in 1961. Ignacio Anaya's name has gone down the history with the name of nachos as he named the snack after his name. Ignacio Anaya García is best known as a chef who invented the snack nachos. In Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico Ignacio Anaya worked at a restaurant named Victory Club. The place was near the army air base at Fort Duncan in Eagle Pass in Piedras Negras, Mexico. It is known that in 1940 Ignacio Anaya created nachos for the first time. At the restaurant Victory Club, there was a regular customer Mamie Finan, and one day she and her friends were shopping and decided to visit the Victory Club. She asked Ignacio Anaya to get a new snack different from usual. Ignacio Anaya went to the kitchen and saw a freshly made corn tortilla, and he decided to cut the tortilla into triangles and fry them. Ignacio Anaya then topped it off with cheddar cheese and heated it. He then chopped jalapeno and dressed the dish with jalapeno slices. The final word was simple tortilla chips with melted cheese and jalapeno slices. He served it to Mamie Finan and her three friends. After having the dish, Mamie Finan asked the dish's name; Ignacio Anaya said we could call it 'Nacho's Special.' This dish became so famous that the restaurant owner Roberto de Los Santos added the word to the menu of Victory Club. Ignacio Anaya opened his restaurant after the restaurant Victory Club was shut down in 1961. The name of Ignacio Anaya's restaurant was 'El Nacho'. Ignacio Anaya did not patent his dish and said that it was to make his customers happy. He even said that it was like any other border dish. Nachos were invented in Northern Mexico; therefore, it is considered Mexican food.

October 21 is celebrated as International Nacho Day. Every year on International Nacho Day, three-day-long festivities are held in the city of Piedras Negras to commemorate the invention of nachos by Ignacio Anaya. This celebration is called the International Nacho Festival worldwide.
