Iris Chacon is a Puerto Rican dancer, actress, singer, and performer.

San Juan-born Iris Chacon enjoyed a great reputation in Puerto Rico as a dancer. Beginning her career in 1969, the dancer did a variety show for more than a decade in Latin American countries and in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, the United States, Europe, and Japan.

Iris Chacon studied as a performer at the University of Puerto Rico. Her show 'The Iris Chacon Show' was a hit in over 15 countries during its height in the '70s and '80s. Iris Chacon has also performed at such venues as Madison Square Garden in New York and the Resorts International Hotel in Atlantic City. Chacon ended her third season on Nickelodeon's 'Gullah Gullah Island', a children's television show. Iris Chacon married two times, the first to Elin Ortiz and then to Junno Faria.

The March-born actress started her education in Jazz and Ballet. She enrolled in the University of Puerto Rico for further studies. Chacon began her professional career as a model and dancer on television.

Iris Chacon continued her voice and dancing classes and was released as a 'vedette', a term used in Europe to describe a multi-talented entertainer after rigorous preparation. She was the first Hispanic entertainer to be featured on the top page of the prestigious Wall Street Journal.

With her own television show, 'The Iris Chacon Show/El Show de Iris Chacon', Chacon captured not just her own Puerto Rico but also the top ratings during prime time television in places like New York, Miami, and Chicago for almost fifteen years.

A world-renowned dancer, singer, and performer, Iris Chacon has several movies to her credit, including 'Qué Bravas Son las Solter..., Looking for Maria Sanchez (2013)', and 'East Side Story' and telenovela 'Yo Sé Que Mentía'.

In 1982, AMCAR, Inc. hired Iris Chacon to star in a television commercial for Amalie Oil Company automobile coolant products, which went on to become one of Puerto Rico's most well-known commercials.

In June 1983, the dancer was featured on the front page of The Wall Street Journal in a story titled 'A Onetime Choirgirl Rules as Sex Goddess On Puerto Rican TV'. The ad used a play on words with the phrases coolant and culón, which means large derrière in Spanish.

From 1984 through the early 1990s, Iris Chacón appeared on American TV shows such as 'America Onstage', 'The Joan Rivers Show', 'The Merv Griffin Show', 'Geraldo Rivera Show', and 'David Letterman'. Letterman described her as the Dolly Parton and Loni Anderson of Puerto Rico and joked about proposing to her.

Outside of the US, Iris Chacon appeared on various Spanish-language programs, including 'Anabel', 'Siempre en Domingo', 'Mala Noche No', and 'Al Ritmo de la Noche', which were all television productions.
