Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, the daughter of James C. Wood and Sandy Wood, was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario. Her ancestors are indigenous French, Brazilian, and Scottish. Dani Probert, Wood's half-sister, was the former spouse of NHL star Bob Probert. Alasdair Gillies, a Scottish highland musician, is her grand uncle. Wood practiced acting classes at Ryerson University, the Armstrong Acting Academy, and the Institute for the Arts.

In October 2012, Wood appeared as a guest star on The CW's initiative series 'Arrow'. Due to time issues, Jacqueline had to leave 'Arrow', and, later, she was replaced by Sara on the show. 'Arrow' premiered to good evaluations and over a million subscribers. Wood finished filming 'Her Husband's Betrayal', a mystery thriller in which she starred alongside Shawn Roberts, for Lifetime television in 2013. On August 2, 2013, the film was released. 'We are excited to take viewers around the globe and behind the velvet ropes for fun in the sun at only the hottest, most elite vacation locales', said Jeff Olde, the network's vice chairman of design and programming. 'Jacqui is a terrific host. We all see a tendency to create something new and distinct given the upper-end splendor and daylight fun that Europe has to provide', executive director David Granger said.
