He also hosted a sports talk radio show on KBX when working for The Denver Post. In 1990, Jay joined as a columnist at The National Sports daily.
During his tenure in Chicago Sun-Times, he also hosted several radio shows, including one in the late 1990's syndicated through the One on One Sports network and another in 2004 on Chicago's WMVP. In 2008, Jay Mariotti resigned from Chicago Sun-Times on the opinion that websites would cover more news and that newspaper would become obsolete. He also failed to cooperate with the station's order to tone down his criticism of the White Sox and the Chicago Bulls.
Jay worked as a regular panelist for ESPN for a sports program 'Around The Horn'. He worked as a columnist for the website of AOL's FanHouse throughout his time at ESPN.
