He took on the responsibility of finding those who were part of this musical group alongside Roberto Sánchez and his inseparable working duo, Jhay Nieves (vocalist of the group). Stereo 4 was a mash-up of four distinct voices. Four teenage people from Puerto Rico comprised the youth group: Jafet Cortes, Rubén Chinea, Eduardo Esteras, and Jess M. Nieves. Cortez later established himself as a soloist.
He worked with the group for the final time in 2016 on the song 'Te Quiero ver,' a collaboration with his former group and his solo debut. The reggaeton singer, who began his musical career as a writer, composer, and producer for well-known singers, signed with Universal Music Latin in 2017. On August 22, 2017, Cortez signed a contract with Universal Music Latin Entertainment discography under the House of Haze movement in collaboration with the producer HAZE aka Fino, better known as El Haze, with whom he released his first hit single under this label, 'Donde no se vea,' with Jory Boy and Pusho collaborations.
On February 22, 2019, Jhay Cortez released the hit song 'No Me Conoce,' which topped numerous Latin American music charts. PROMUSICAE of Spain certified it triple platinum; the song also had a remix version with J Balvin and Bad Bunny, and the US RIAA certified it 20 times platinum.
Jhay Cortez issued a special edition of his first studio album, 'Famouz Reloaded,' including previously unheard songs and a new single, 'Dime a Vida,' which would be included on his second album, 'Timelezz.'
