Career And Professional Highlights

Best Known For…

The skate punk and hardcore punk singer from Hermosa Beach, Jim, is best recognized as the lead vocalist and lyricist of the punk rock band Pennywise, which he headed from 1988 through 2009 and yet again since 2012.
The skate punk and hardcore punk singer, Jim, reunited to create their sophomore album, 'Unknown Road', after their work was included in a series of surfing and skating videos, which attracted a less aggressive audience. Thirsk left the band in late 1995 after announcing their third studio album, 'About Time', and was overtaken by Bradbury. They enjoyed some chart success, with the later record hitting the top 100 on Billboard. Thirsk was expected to be back on bass, with Bradbury shifting to rhythm guitar. However, Thirsk passed away because of a self-inflicted bullet wound on July 29, 1988, at 28.
Following Thirsk's departure, Pennywise debated disbanding, but the band chose to keep going with Bradbury as his definitive successor. Pennywise has maintained a steady performance since then, publishing six additional studio albums and a live recording.
Pennywise was one of the five major stage headliners. They helped create The Vans Warped Tour as one of America's lengthiest traveling music festivals, alongside contemporaries and Epitaph Records labelmates Rancid, NOFX, Bad Religion, and The Offspring.
Jim Lindberg announced his departure from Pennywise in August 2009. Lindberg later said that he departed Pennywise due to irreconcilable differences and a desire to tour less than his mates.
After his successor, Zoltán Téglás, was benched by back trouble in October 2012, Pennywise revealed that Jim Lindberg would rejoin the band.
Jim Lindberg announced his new band, The Black Pacific, in June 2010. The Black Pacific contracted with SideOneDummy Records with two debut album songs, 'The System' and 'When It's Over'. Alan Vega of Good Guys in Black played drums, and Davey Latter of Everest played bass alongside Jim authoring, who played guitar plus sang all of the tunes. The debut album of The Black Pacific, created by Far guitarist Shaun Lopez, includes various music genres. In Fontana, California, Black Pacific made their first appearance at Epicenter 2010. On September 14, 2010, they launched their self-titled premiere.
In assistance to the album, The Black Pacific went on tour with Sum 41, The Riverboat Gamblers, and Veara on the Eastpak Antidote tour in October 2010, Groezrock Festival, Pukkelpop, as well as various other European gatherings in 2011.
Jim Lindberg has worked with Havoc TV, a cable tv VOD content distributor.
Jim Lindberg also published his first book, 'Punk Rock Dad', in May 2007. The book delves into the conflict of being a dutiful husband and father parenting three children while also headlining an anti-establishment punk rock band, with several examples connecting to each role. Musicians of NOFX, The Offspring, and Lagwagon contributed remarks to the book, as did members of Dr. Drew Pinsky, Everclear, Foo Fighters, and Pearl Jam.
The 2010 documentary 'The Other F Word', an official inclusion of the South By Southwest fest, was inspired by 'Punk Rock Dad'. The movie, directed by Andrea Nevins and produced by Cristan Reilly, accompanied Lindberg at residence and on tour with Pennywise and included discussions with many other fathers from the music and action sports worlds.

Charity Work

Jim Lindberg has been an ardent follower of the Surfrider Foundation and has engaged in public service messages for many ocean-related issues. Pennywise's participation in the Surfrider benefit mixtape, MOM (Music for Our Mother Ocean), in which the band shot cover versions of iconic Beach Boys songs and engaged in several celebrity charity surf competitions, was organized by him.
Jim Lindberg has also been involved in many charitable activities, namely leading the initiative to contribute the actual earnings of a Pennywise event held at the Los Angeles Sports Arena in 2000 to charity. On behalf of Cooper's Cure, Jim coordinated the contribution of money from Pennywise's 'Reason to Believe' album launch party to the UCLA Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Center in 2008.
While touring in Europe with The Black Pacific, Jim Lindberg taped a version of Operation Ivy's 'Knowledge' with Mike Wiebe of Riverboat Gamblers and Radio Havana to support skate-aid, an NPO that aids kids around the world via skateboarding-related activities. Jim also performed at the House of Blues in San Diego in February 2011 for the Lymphoma Society's 'Rock Vs. Cancer' benefit concert.
