Joanna became the queen of the Spanish empire after the deaths of her siblings and children. Throughout history, there were many monarchs like her who suffered from madness, but her story was really tragic.

In 1502, she became the heiress of the throne of Aragon and to the Castilian throne with her consort, Philip. In 1504, her mother, Queen Isabella I, died. Soon after, Joanna became the Queen regent of Castile, and her consort became the Jure Uxoris king. She had four siblings named Isabella, John, Maria, and Catherine. Isabella and Maria were the queens of Portugal; John was the prince of Australia, and Catherine was the queen of England. Her brother John died at the age of 19, and in 1498, her sister Isabella also died soon after giving birth to her son.
