John Amos, also known as John Allen Amos Jr., is an American nationality actor who rose to fame after playing the character of James Evans in the CBS television series titled 'Good Times'.

John was born in Newark, New Jersey, the United States of America on December 27, 1939. However, the family shifted to East Orange, New Jersey while he was growing up.

John Amos started off working as a copywriter in an advertising agency. Furthermore, after he completed his degree in sociology, he started working at the New York-based Vera Institute of Justice.

John Amos was also a great football player who was part of the Colorado State Rams football team. He even signed a deal with the American Football League, United Football League, Continental Football League, and more.

John Amos, before joining the acting industry, started off playing football and tried to build a career in sports. In the year 1964, John Amos accepted a free agent deal offered by the American Football League's football franchise, the Denver Broncos. However, Amos was pulled from the team due to an injury. Furthermore, Amos went on to play with the Canton Bulldogs as well as the Joilet Explorers, both of which belong to the United Football League.

John Amos, in the year 1967, again signed a free agent deal offered by the American Football League's football team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
