On November 6, 2005, Kangin made his public debut as a member of the 12-member boy band Super Junior 05 on the SBS music program ‘Popular Songs,’ where they performed their debut track, ‘Twins (Knock Out).’

On December 5, 2005, they released their debut album, ‘SuperJunior05 (Twins),’ which debuted at number three on the MIAK K-pop album charts. SM Entertainment started recruiting new members for the upcoming Super Junior generation in March 2006.

Plans were altered, though, and the corporation decided to stop creating further Super Junior generations. Kyuhyun, the group's thirteenth member, caused the group to discard the suffix 05 and adopt the name Super Junior. Until the release of ‘Sorry, Sorry' in March 2009, the re-polished group's debut CD single, ‘U,’ which was released on June 7, 2006, had achieved the highest commercial success.

Kangin was added to the trot-singing Super Junior-T in February 2007. Kangin made his debut on the big screen in the Super Junior movie ‘Attack on the Pin-Up Boys,’ released on July 26, 2007, a year after he joined Super Junior-H.

Kangin returned to Super Junior for the group's sixth album, ‘Sexy, Free & Single,’ released on July 1, 2012, according to SM Entertainment's June 2012 announcement. Additionally, this was his first appearance with Super Junior in three years, dating back to October 2009. On June 25, a teaser image of Kangin was made public, showing him slumped and looking icy, with a veil-like net covering his face.

Music Core, Kangin was replaced by Eunhyuk in the middle of 2006, and the trio continued to serve as the hosts for the remainder of the year.
