Keiichi Tsuchiya is a leading Japanese professional race car driver.
With his unconventional usage of drifting techniques during non-drifting competitions and his contribution to the growth of drifting as separate motorsport entirely, he is regarded as the Drift King. He has won the GT class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice and finished second in the 2001 All Japan GT Championship.
He is the one who elevated the Toyota AE86 to legendary JDM status and the stunt driver behind the Japanese-focused 'Fast & Furious' film, 'Furious Tokyo Drift'.
Keiichi Tsuchiya has a net worth of $30 million as of 2022. He created this net worth as a professional race car driver.

Any information about his family is not available apart from the name of his birthplace. He was born in a town in Japan named Tomi, Nagano.

In 1977, Mr. Tsuchiya made his racing debut at Japan's renowned 'Fuji Freshman Race'. Since then, he has competed in various race categories, including 'Group A' and 'F3'. In 1977, Mr. Tsuchiya joined the Toyota Works team as one of the drivers at the Le Mans 24-hour race, one of the three most prestigious races in the world, and finished second in the overall standings. In honor of his innovative driving technique, which involved expertly handling curves, which he demonstrated during the Fuji Freshman Race, he is also known as the 'drift king'. Keiichi Tsuchiya, 66, isn't slowing down at all.
Keiichi Tsuchiya is the driving force behind the extreme popularity of drifting. In addition to street racing, he also refined his driving skills by 'local touge running', which refers to driving on mountainous terrain. This earned him the admiration and respect of his fellow street racers, known as 'hashiriya'. Tsuchiya frequently used to drift to pass another car, which is to say, purposefully oversteers to lose control of the rear tyres and cause the car to perform a wild sweeping curve at high speeds. Fans dubbed him the Drift King, and his legend only increased, even though his license was suspended when he first drifted in a professional race.
Pulling the handbrake just before reaching full speed locks the back brakes and causes Tsuchiya to initiate a drift in a front-wheel-drive vehicle. Additionally, he can drift whenever he wants in a rear-wheel-drive vehicle without using the hand brakes or adjusting the tire pressure.
As the Drift King, Keiichi Tsuchiya has become well-known in motorsports and popular culture. He received various honors. He won his class twice at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 1984, he won six races in the Fuji Freshman series. In 1986, he got 2 podium places in the Corolla Sprinter Cup. He also got a win in the 2001 All-Japan GT championship.
