Kerry Von Erich was best known for making his professional wrestling debut on May 7, 1979, in World-class Championship Wrestling. He fought against Paul Perschmann. He wrestled for 11 years in the World Wrestling Federation and won titles such as the Texas Tag Team and American Tag Team.
In 1982, Kerry Von Erich worked as a solo wrestler before he teamed up with his brother, Kevin Von Erich. The Von Erich brothers engaged in numerous feuds with competitors, including Chris Adams, Gino Hernandez, and Jake Roberts. Kerry Von Erich got his first shot at the NWA Title against Flair on August 15, 1982.
Kerry Von Erich became the most famous member of the Von Erich family on May 6, 1984, when he defeated Rick Flair, popularly known as Nature Boy, at Texas Stadium to claim the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. The Von Erich brothers, Kevin, Kerry, and David, compete against the Fabulous Freebirds in a six-man tag team match. The victory made them win the NWA Texas Six-Man Tag Team Championship.
Sadly, his brother David Von Erich died from a heart attack and a small perforated intestine not long after.
In 1992, Kerry Von Erich returned to Texas, where he battled and won the USWF Texas Heavyweight Championship. He played his final match in Global Wrestling Federation, teaming up with Chris Adams, on February 12, 1993. They played the match against Black Bart and Johnny Mantell at the Sportatorium. The duo sadly couldn't win the match due to disqualification in the match.
Kerry Von's life revolved around wrestling until he passed away, but he did uphold the Von Erich family legacy.
Throughout his career, Kerry Von Erich won plenty of awards. He won the NWA American Heavyweight Championship three times and the NWA American Heavyweight Championship four times. He twice won the Texas heavyweight championship title. Kerry Von Erich has won plenty more titles during his career. Kerry Von Erich also belonged to the 2009 class of the WWE Hall of Fame.
