Bush is part of the country music duo Sugarland in which the other half of the band was Jennifer Nettles. Kristian was also part of the popular folk-rock duo band Billy Pilgrim where the other half of the band was Andrew Hyra.

His career started in the early '90s with the band Billy Pilgrim. He met the other half of the band in Knoxville. Andrew Hyra had moved with his sister to Tennessee to pursue his musical journey. At first, Andrew and his sister joined the band but soon it became a duo as she left them for a gig in Florida. They mostly performed on the Emory Campus and earned the Top 5 Singles Spot on many charts making them the new talk of the town. Billy Pilgrim released a total of nine albums in their respective careers.
