He did his schooling at Ridgewood High School. During his school years, L.A. Beast was a football team member. After completing school, L.A. Beast joined Fordham University, where he played for Fordham Rams on the offensive line. He then graduated with a degree in history and business in 2006 and soon started working as a sales representative for Budweiser.

He relocated to Los Angeles, California, in 2008 and began working for Pepsi. Two years later, he quit his low-wage job after realizing his income was insufficient to support him. He returned to live with his parents. He also returned to his previous position at Budweiser. In 2011, he relocated to Los Angeles again, but in October 2016, he returned to New Jersey. According to L.A. Beast, his grandmother, who cooked meals for him, was the only one who helped him develop an appetite.

L.A. Beast launched his YouTube channel in 2010. The Fatburger XXXL Task was the first challenge that L.A. Beast accomplished. He rose to fame due to the excellent feedback after completing the Milk Chugging Challenge in a YouTube video. This video was shot by his friend, who is also the one who uploaded it. After some time passed, L.A. Beast began to record weekend videos.

He even consumed 50 raw eggs in a single sitting, finished the Cinnamon Challenge, and got kicked by a friend who wore an Eeyore costume as his lips burned after consuming a ghost pepper. He did all of these things to see how far he could push his body.

An old college teammate called him in August 2011 and advised him to try his hand at competitive eating. In New York City, he competed in the Wild Turkey 81 Eating World Championship because he was interested in the prospects.

L.A. Beast consumed 25 hot dogs in 10 minutes at the Cleveland, Ohio, qualifier for the 2012 Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest. L.A. Beast also participated in the World Cupcake Eating Championship the same year.
