He rose to prominence after portraying privileged youngster Greg Nelson in 'All My Children' (1981–1986), wherein his character became involved with Jenny Gardner, a lady from the other side of the tracks (Kim Delaney). The two were dubbed 'supercouples', and Lau's celebrity status soared as a result. Other significant soap roles include Jamie Frame (1986–1990) on NBC's 'Another World' and attorney Sam Rappaport (2001–2003) on ABC's 'One Life To Live', where he replaced actor Kale Browne.
