On November 30, 2011, Mac Lethal uploaded a clip on YouTube of himself rapping over the rhythm of Chris Brown's 'Look At Me Now' in his kitchen while making pancakes. The video went viral and had millions of views on YouTube in a couple of days, prompting appearances on CNN as well as The Washington Post blogs. It was listed on the Spin's list of 'The 10 Most Contagiously Viral Musical Web Sensations of 2011'. In the same year, Mac Lethal published 'Irish Goodbye', his first studio album, with Black Clover Records.

Lethal claims that the chats are genuine, despite the fact that others have doubted whether Bennett is a genuine man. In 2013, Simon & Schuster published his novel of the same name.
'Texts From Bennett' was published on September 3, 2013. Lethal's William Morris Endeavor representatives sold the book idea to Gallery Books, a Simon & Schuster division, in May 2012. This narrative novel, based on the wildly successful 'Texts From Bennett' Tumblr blog, is classified as a family saga for the twenty-first century. It follows the year that Bennett, as well as the rest of his leeching family, relocated to his cousin Mac's home. As per the author, the novel is a story of love and a homage to 'How I Met My Wife'.
'Texts From Bennett' was named a Library Journal Choice Of The Month in the category of 'African-American Fiction'. 'The author's picture of poverty and the laboring poor white individuals' effort to get by has considerable street cred', Rollie Welch wrote for the journal. The television show, 'Binge Thinking', hosted by Mac Lethal alongside Amber Diamond, launched on MTV2 on April 1, 2016. 'Binge Thinking' was the top bar crawl game program on TV that spilled the beans behind the phrase, 'Think you're wiser after a few drinks?'.
'Congratulations', his studio album, was dropped on September 13, 2016, and features a special feature by Tech N9ne. Mac Lethal released a song called 'Kansas Chiefs Anthem 2020' before the Chiefs' triumph in Super Bowl LIV. Mac Lethal mentions several Chiefs stars from that season in the track.
