Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao, better known by his ring name, Manny Pacquiao, was born on December 17, 1978, in Kibawe, Bukidnon province, Mindanao, Philippines.
He is a professional boxer, media personality, and politician who rose to fame for having won more boxing championships than any other boxer in history. His life outside the ring only served to highlight his incredible journey from poverty to the top of his sport.

Pacquiao, a devoted basketball enthusiast, declared on April 17, 2014 that he intended to join the Philippine Basketball Association as the playing coach of the Kia Motors Basketball club, which would be joining as an expansion team for the PBA's 2014–15 season. On February 12, 2007, Pacquiao declared his intention to compete as a member of the Liberal Party group led by Manila mayor Lito Atienza for a seat in the Philippine House of Representatives to represent the first District of the province of South Cotabato. According to Pacquiao, General Santos's local leaders convinced him to run in the hopes that he would serve as a link between their objectives and the federal government. The United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) party of Vice President Jejomar Binay is where Pacquiao officially announced on October 5, 2015, that he was running for senator.
