On June 5, just after midnight, he addressed his supporters at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. He was critically stabbed by a Palestinian immigrant named Sirhan Bishara Sirhan while exiting through a kitchen hallway. Kennedy was interred in Arlington National Cemetery next to his brother John.

He ran his brother's presidential campaign while working as a lawyer at the Justice Department. He publicly confronted Jimmy Hoffa, the Teamsters president, while serving as the Senate Labor Rackets Committee's primary counsel. King persisted in pressuring Robert Kennedy and the Department of Justice to devote more resources to the civil rights movement, even though the Kennedy administration was the first to do so. At 42, Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated on June 6, 1968.
