When he was young, he started working in the Australian TV industry and was credited in 'Vacation Island' and 'All The Streams', among other shows. He decided to focus on his academics later. He wanted to study an Asian language for his resume and took up Korean. He majored in Marketing and Korean studies at the Swinburne University of Technology. He moved to Korea and became a transfer student at Korea University in 2002 after learning and studying Korean for one and a half years.
