William Todd English, better known as Todd English, is an American celebrity chef, restaurateur, author, and television personality.
He was born on August 29, 1960, in Amarillo, Texas, United States. He is most famous for his restaurants and his cooking show 'Food Trip With Todd English'.
He has also worked as a judge on the 'Cooking Under Fire' show. Todd English began his cooking career at 15 and that was the first time he entered the doors of a professional kitchen. At 20, he attended the renowned Culinary Institute of America. He continued to work on his skills with Jean Jacques Rachou at New York's La Cote Basque and then, he moved to Italy.
In Italy, he continued his apprenticeship at the well-established Dal Pescatore in Canneto sull’Oglio and Paracucchi in Locanda dell’Angelo.
He developed his unique style and approach to cooking by drawing inspiration from his roots of Italian heritage. English then came back to the U.S. at 25 to work as the Executive Chef at an award-winning restaurant in Cambridge. After three full years of his work as an Executive Culinarian, while garnering the praise from the public and the press, he went on to open his chain of restaurants.
With his signature interpretive cuisine, he was able to draw immediate attention and praise from the national and international audience and his restaurant venture went on to gain several accolades in the records.

The food here is expected to have a rustic Mediterranean style with a strong influence on Italian cuisine. The restaurant was titled the Best New Restaurant by Boston Magazine. It has also been honored as Best Food and Top Table by Gourmet magazine. There are two signature desserts offered by Olives: a molten chocolate cake and a vanilla bean soufflé. These are often ordered with the main meal.
As of 2022, two Olives restaurants are open at the Ritz hotel and resort in Abu Dhabi and Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas.
Following the success of Olives, English created Figs, a more casual sister restaurant concept that serves traditional and eclectic pizzas and handmade pasta, and for which English was awarded the Hot Concept award from Nation’s Restaurant News.
