Crested Gecko or the Eyelash Gecko is a subspecies of Gecko, which is only found in New Caledonia. They were originally discovered in 1866 by a French Zoologist. However, without any subsequent viewing in the 20th Century, they were thought to be extinct; but they were found in 1994 in Southern New Caledonia. Crested Geckos are among the largest species of Gecko found, and, on average, they are about 3 inches to 6 inches in length. They are most distinctive due to the hairs being over their eyes, which Kinda looks like an eyelid. Their tails and legs are covered in hair which helps them in climbing tress. The Crested Gecko is found in nature in many colors like grey, brown, orange, and yellow; however, the most common amongst them is the yellow-crested Gecko.
