Young kids who like aquatic animals like sharks and seahorses will love this free printable crown-of-thorns starfish coloring pages resource. Crown-of-thorns starfish is a species of starfish belonging to the class Asteroida. They are named crown-of-thorns due to the fact that almost their whole body is covered in spines. Those spines serve as a form of protection from predators and also help in eating corals. Their spines are about five centimeters in length and are rigid, easily piercing soft objects. These spines sometimes contain naturally occurring toxins, which can cause sharp and stinging pain on contact with human skin. They are primarily red or purple-blue in color, with an adult has about 10 to 15 arms and is about 10 inches to 18 inches in length. Did you know? They are the second-largest sea star, with the biggest starfish being Giant Sea-star.
