The 'pocket' refers to the externally opening pouch present on the sides of both cheeks. The gopher is a thick and cylindrical animal with a weight of nearly two hundred grams and a length of about 4.7 to 13.5 inches.


It also has short legs, small eyes, powerful digging claws, and years and a little neck. This rodent has a short-haired tail with numerous blood vessels and neurons. Gopher comes in various coat colors such as white through tones of yellow, brown, and black.

They dig burrows for nesting and food storage. Gophers live in southern Canada and the United States.
