There are three types of lizard species found throughout the world: xantusia, present in Mexico Durango state, lepidophyma, which lives in eastern Mexico and Panama, and cricosaura, which occurs in eastern Cuba. Night lizard lacks eyelids and cleans its eyes with its tongue. This animal is more active during the day than at night but in dark places. The size of a night lizard is less than 10 cm in length.
