Kids will enjoy coloring and learning through this colorful free printable horse in snow coloring pages resource. Horses have evolved to cope with winters, freezing cold weather and frugal foraging conditions of Northern winters. They have a low thermal-neutral zone, which means they can cope and adapt to low temperatures from 0 to -2 C better than humans. Horses have survived through the ice age, which had long and immensely cold winters. Horses stay in snow and enjoy it unless they start precipitating. They ensure to keep their stomach full while in the snow. Therefore, they paw the snow in order to find vegetation to eat. They prefer staying close to water bodies in the snow, as water is essential for their survival. Horses can sleep standing and or lying down. While standing, they use their ‘stay apparatus’ to lock their joints to take a light nap. This allows them to sleep without falling. Horses are herd animals and they sleep well when they are with other horses, especially in the wild, since, while other horses sleep, the others stand guard.
