The historic market town of Windsor is situated on the River Thames in south-east England. It’s located in the county of Berkshire, England, just west of London, and is twinned with the town of Eton across the river, home to the historic school.
It is perhaps most famous because of Windsor Castle, which crowns the town and is one of the British Royal Family’s official residences. The Castle dates back from the 11th century when it was originally built by William The Conqueror. Your family can take a public tour around the Castle, taking in the opulent furnishings, features, and art collection - a perfect day out for history buffs.
Otherwise, plan a fun family day out at Legoland Windsor, or catch a show at Windsor Theatre. Make a splash down the slides at Windsor Leisure Centre before heading to one of the great Windsor restaurants: Enzo’s Windsor is good for Italian, or opt for Lebanese at Lebanese Nights. Pick up some local produce from Windsor Farm Shop before counting the deer in Windsor Great Park.
