Sheffield Theatres

Based in the city of Sheffield in the metropolitan borough of South Yorkshire, Sheffield Theatres is one of the leading theatres in the country and the largest theatre complex outside the city of London. It’s home to the magnificent Lyceum, the intimate Studio and the world-famous Crucible. You can expect big names to intimate local productions, large-scale musicals to engrossing drama, new plays by new writing champions to fringe theatre shows. Sheffield Theatres takes pride in producing a diverse programme of work, whilst nurturing new creative talent.                                                                                    

Current touring shows include smash-hit musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5, The Commitments, Mamma Mia, The Great Gatsby, Grease, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Sleeping Beauty, Six the Musical and Derren Brown – Showman are currently on stage. Escaped Alone, Operation Crucible and Typical Girls are currently on at the Studio Theatre.

Awarded the Barclays Theatre of the Year Award in 2001, the Crucible past shows include Fanfare, Henrik Ibsen's An Enemy of the People, Jane Eyre, Funny Girl, Othello and Fiddler on the Rood. It also hosts the World Snooker Championship. The Studio Theatre is situated in the Crucible and past productions include Operation Crucible and Lungs. Sheffield Theatres’ Lyceum Theatre past productions include Little Miss Sunshine, Blood Brothers, Horrible Histories, Snow White and Journey’s End.
