Daisaku Ikeda is a Japanese anti-nuclear campaigner, educationist, philosopher, and writer.
His fame comes from him being a well-respected member of the Soka Gakkai. SGI or Soka Gakkai Institution, as it is commonly known, is a religious movement in Japan preaching the teachings of Nichiren Buddhism.
Ikeda was born in 1928 and, having witnessed nuclear warfare in Japan's home country, was profoundly influenced by it. He made it his life mission to study and understand human conflict. By the age of 19, he became interested in Buddhism's values passed down by Nichiren, who formed the Nichiren Buddhism sect. This led to him being granted membership in the Soka Gakkai Institution. His work for the institution promoting a liberal way of life along with a war-free world has garnered him great fame.
