Decided it's time to starting the weaning process?
There are so many different baby weaning products and methods out there to think about - all of which with the purpose of making the transition as smooth and easy as possible for both baby and parents. The majority of families begin weaning their babies onto a mixture of solids and milk feeds at around six months old, but if you're unsure on whether you're little one is ready, then there are several signs to look for to indicate that it's time.
Weaning should start around the age that most babies are able to sit and hold themselves up steadily without support, when they seem interested in the food that you're eating or seem to want more feeds, when the tongue-thrust reflex is no longer present, and when they can use their hand-eye coordination to pick things up and move them to their mouths.
Weaning also means that for those over six months, feeding equipment such as spoons and bowls for babies no longer need to be sterilised when cleaning - though bottles and teats should still be sterilised when used. Whether you go for a spoon-fed or a baby-led weaning approach - there are plenty of baby weaning equipment items that you need to get started. We've rounded up 16 of our top must-have items to get the weaning journey started - check them out!
