All set to celebrate the life and legacy of the Girl Scout's founder this October 31?

The dynamic founder of Girl Scout, Juliet Gordon Low, was born on October 31 in Savannah, Georgia. She was popularly known as Daisy by her friends and family, and she enjoyed creative arts and outdoor activities.  

With an aim to empower girls to enhance their creativity, she created Girl Guides Troop in 1912. Initially, 18 girls were present for the first troop meeting. In 1915, the Girl Guides Troop was converted into the Girl Scouts of the USA.

Till the time of her death, Low remained active with the Girl Scouts movement. Since the first meeting of the Girl Scout, the organization has grown and impacted the lives of millions of girls.

Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the Girl Scouts of the United States, was born on October 31, 1860. 


Girl Guides Was Formed

After being inspired by the Boy Scouts led by Sir Robert Baden-Powell, Low founded the Girls Guides in Great Britain in August 1911. 


Girl Guide Troop Starts

Juliette Low formed the first American Girl Guide Troop with 18 girls on returning from England. 


Girl Scout's Founder Dies

On January 17, 1927, Juliette Gordon Low died of breast cancer at the age of 66 in her home in Savannah. 


Hall Of Fame

Juliette Low was honored with a lasting legacy by being inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame.
