Our recommended activities are based on age but these are a guide. We recommend that these ideas are used as inspiration, that ideas are undertaken with appropriate adult supervision, and that each adult uses their own discretion and knowledge of their children to consider the safety and suitability.
Kidadl cannot accept liability for the execution of these ideas, and parental supervision is advised at all times, as safety is paramount. Anyone using the information provided by Kidadl does so at their own risk and we can not accept liability if things go wrong.
International Chefs Day is celebrated across many countries. It is a worldwide annual event.
Well firstly, many chefs and their families will celebrate this day. It is also celebrated by children and adults who are aware of or appreciate the profession.
International Chefs Day first began in 2004 on October 20. It has been celebrated ever since every year.
This day was started by a famous chef, Dr. Bill Gallagher. He was the president of the World Association of Chefs Societies or World Chefs.
Food is very important for us. We are what we eat. When we eat healthy food our bodies are better at fighting against diseases. It is very important in this time and age, where fast foods are monopolizing the world, to know about healthy eating and how many benefits it has for our bodies. International Chefs Day sets out with the hope to make the next generation aware of this, utilize healthy recipes, and also pass on their chef skills. Here are some important dates and facts related to the profession as a whole.
On International Chefs Day, the Worldchefs organization conducts fun workshops that are all about healthy eating and healthy cooking for a healthy lifestyle.
Apart from promoting healthy food habits, chefs from all over the world come together to spread the word about this noble profession. Children are given the opportunity to ask chefs questions about their work. Chefs can teach them about how things work in the kitchen. They can explain the difference between the head chef, sous chef, pastry chef, and sauce chef.
Eating healthy food often also means food that is grown locally and hopefully without too many pesticides. This International Chefs Day, head out to the local farmers market and get fresh organic produce and cook a nice meal for your family.
If you like organizing events then use International Chefs Day as an opportunity to bring together the neighborhood and host a food event or a cooking competition.
If you are not much of a social person then don't worry there are plenty of TV shows for you to watch. If you are interested then go ahead and watch a few episodes of chef Gordon Ramsey's shows.
In 2020 due to COVID-19, no events could be held for International Chefs Day. So chefs around the world took to creating videos and posting them online for children to access. They were able to reach 112,000 children that year.
Toolkits are available to download online with recipes and information. Go ahead and download this and keep your children engaged and educated about International Chefs Day.
Each year International Chefs Day is celebrated based on a theme. In 2017 the theme was 'Foods for Healthy Heroes' and in 2021 it was 'Building Forward Together: Ending Persistent Poverty, Respecting all People and our Planet'.
International Chefs Day promotes the profession as well as healthy food habits.
National Chefs Day is celebrated on October 20 annually so the day of the week will change accordingly.
The theme in 2020 for International Chefs Day was 'Healthy Food for the Future'.
