It was established by the UN General Assembly, which is an organization composed of several nations, to encourage global peace and develop friendly relations.
October 2 is usually celebrated as Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary across India and other parts of the globe, but very few people are aware that it has been designated as the International Day Of Non-Violence.
To honor this day, there are official remembrance ceremonies hosted around the globe. On this day, many uphold the tradition of decorating the statues of Mahatma Gandhi with flowers, and various cultural events are enacted, inducing the essence of peace.
