The day is celebrated on July 15 every year in the USA.

The origins of the term ‘dork’ are extremely interesting. The word was first used in the latter years of the 1800s. It was mostly used by people in the British Army to make fun of one another. But, almost a century later, in the later years of the ’60s, the term reached the shores of America, with people using the word in colleges. Initially, the word was used as an offensive term to mock a goofy individual for their lack of social skills. However, as time passed by, the word took on fewer demeaning meanings.
