National Draw A Dinosaur Day is celebrated in the United States of America.
Everyone, young and old alike, celebrates this day.
National Draw A Dinosaur Day was first celebrated on January 30, 2008.
It was started by a student named Todd Page of Providence College who uploaded pictures drawn by his classmates onto a web page called LJ post.
The idea of drawing dinos came to Todd Page in his anthropology class out of sheer boredom. He sketched a dino and found it to be fun and stimulating. So he asked his friends to sketch them too and realized they were all having lots of fun. Thus started the idea of having a day when people could let their creativity run riot and draw these prehistoric creatures that once inhabited Earth.
There are no set customs or traditions associated with this day. It is a simple but fun day. All you do is take a blank piece of paper and, with pen or paint, give your imagination free rein and see where it takes you. Children have always been fascinated with dinosaurs. It is a wonderful time to spend with your kids and allows them to set their imagination free.
Ideally, this day encourages you to be creative while drawing dinosaurs. Even if you can't draw, you can still celebrate the day. You could give these prehistoric creatures funny names and post your art online.
Drawing dinosaurs is a silly and creative activity that can be enjoyed by all ages. Such events are a great way to bond with friends and family.
On National Draw A Bird Day people specifically draw birds, while on National Draw A Dinosaur Day, as the name suggests, one draws prehistoric dinosaurs.
Todd Page was an ardent fan of dinosaurs. While in his anthropology class, he was thoroughly bored. So to chase away the boredom, he drew a dinosaur. Then he found it was fun to draw them, so he asked kids sitting next to him to draw dinosaurs as well. Soon all the kids were coming up with whacky but fun ideas for dinosaur sketches. Page subsequently registered January 30 as Draw a Dinosaur Day.
Children love dinosaurs, and drawing them is enjoyable because there are so many of them to choose from. With this activity, kids can turn their attention away from cartoons and video games and over-exposure to the internet. Parents can bond with their kids by helping them to sketch a dino, watching tutorial videos, and learning how to draw different species of dinosaurs.
