It is celebrated on cultural platforms between the U.S. and Mexico.
This day is celebrated by both Mexicans and Americans.
National Poinsettia Day was first seen in 2002.
It was started by the House Of Representatives of the U.S. and Mexico.
Wild Poinsettias thrive on pacific facing slopes from Mexico to Guatemala's south. Many Poinsettias are grown at Paul Ecke Farm. One old folk tale speaks of a poor girl, Pepita, who got devastated because she could not afford to buy baby Jesus for Christmas. When the angel sees her eyes, she asks her to pick some weeds lying down. When she cries, those weeds turn into gorgeous red blooms.
People do exchange Poinsettia plants as a lovely gesture as it is the day of Poinsettias' death anniversary. This tradition is spreading to Europe too.
On that day, go to the nursery and take some seeds or Poinsettias (flowers), including Poinsetta, for your Christmas season wreath.
National Poinsettia day is known to be celebrated on December 12 as it is the death anniversary of Poinsettia.
These are annuals, and Poinsettias were used to treat fever in the olden days.
It is the day of remembering the famous American Botanist Joel Rober Poinsett.
Members of Congress in both Mexico and the U.S. were encouraged to celebrate this day to honor Paul Ecke Jr.
