This is a global event, so it is celebrated in many countries around the world.
World Choral Day is a worldwide event. So, all those who love to sing and have a passion for music are open to celebrating this day.
It was started in the year 1990.
Venezuelan composer Alberto Grau started this day.
Choral music is an integral part of western classical musical traditions. It had its origins in the religious songs of early medieval Europe. From the earliest times to the present age, the purpose of choral music was always to celebrate the divine in the human.
The International Federation for Choral Music organizes several concerts, live recitals, talent programs on this day to celebrate a great day for music. Due to the pandemic situation, online concert has become the new norm. Audience members join the concert via online platforms such as Google Meet and Skype.
You may attend a concert in your locality to get a first-hand experience of choir music. Listening to choral music on Spotify would be an excellent way to spend this day.
World Choral Day was initiated to bring peace and solidarity to a divided world. Through the singing of choral music, singers let the music work its magic on audiences worldwide. Choirs utilize the power of music to unite the voices of many into one.
World Choral Day celebrates choral music and choral events. It centers on the role that choir music can play in promoting peace and a sense of community worldwide. World Music Day, celebrated every year on June 21, also aims to spread peace and brotherhood by encouraging people to sing. The only difference between the two events is that while the former is based around choral music and choir singers, the latter incorporates all forms of music.
World Choral Day was the brainchild of Venezuelan music composer and choral music director Alberto Grau. He wanted to see choral music work to develop peace and universal brotherhood through a culture of music festivals and concerts. With this idea in mind, Alberto Grau proposed setting up this day during the Second World Symposium on Choral Music in Helsinki, Finland, in August 1990. At that time, Alberto Grau was the Vice-President of the International Federation For Choral Music.
World Choral Day is a celebration of the power music holds in the community of human beings. It encourages people across boundaries to put on their singing caps and join a choir. It promotes peace by uniting the voices of singers hailing from different parts of the globe.
When people participate in World Choral Day either by going to concerts, choral music festivals, or events that celebrate this particular day, they realize that all humans are the same and the boundaries between countries are actually borne out of the mind.
