World TB Day is observed to raise awareness about tuberculosis as an epidemic disease.
'The Clock is Ticking' was the theme of World TB Day in 2021. The event encouraged global leaders to work together to put an end to the global TB epidemic by establishing equitable access to care and prevention of infectious disease.
'It's Time to End TB' was chosen as the theme of World TB Day 2020 to raise public awareness.
World TB Day is used as a platform to raise public awareness about the health and economic consequences that TB has. The day encourages people to learn about the disease and donate to charities that work towards diagnosing and curing TB in the global TB epidemic.
Bacillus Calmette-Guérin or BCG vaccine is given in newborns and small children in countries where death from TB is a high risk.
Active TB disease, miliary TB, and latent TB infection are the three types of tuberculosis.
Tuberculosis is caused by a bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
