Searching for a spellbinding show for the whole family? Look no further! The award-winning Matilda the Musical is hitting the stage at the Cambridge Theatre, breathing new life into the beloved family favourite story, with toe-tapping songs and breathtaking special effects. Not to mention, there’s incredible life lessons to be learnt from the book-loving and kind-hearted Matilda herself. Take a look down below at our top 5 things kids can learn from Matilda the Musical, inspired by some catchy lyrics from the show itself! Plus with tickets from as little as £23.00, you’d be as crazy as Mrs Wormwood not to check it out!
First and foremost, if it’s not right, you have to put it right! Matilda teaches us that no one except you can decide what happens in your life. Matilda inspires us to put things right in the world and stand up for what we believe in - she doesn't back down in the face of Miss Trunchbull, so why should you?
Despite Mrs Wormwood not seeming like the conventional inspirational figure, she does preach some pretty important stuff. Mrs Wormwood shows us that confidence is key, she doesn’t care about what others think of her - especially given her fashion sense - and she definitely knows how to stand out from the crowd! So go on, wear those pink, glittery trousers if you want to!
You mustn't let a little thing like ‘little stop you’! The kids in Matilda the Musical are just one example of this - the talent, stage presence and stamina demonstrated by such youngsters is incredible! Adults and children won’t be able to take their eyes off of the kids as they sing and dance their way around the Cambridge Theatre. Size means nothing - no matter whether you’re big or small, you can achieve whatever you set out to do - Matilda and her pals have proved it!
Matilda teaches us that ‘sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty’ in order to get the most out of life and stand up for what you truly believe in. However, that action can only come from you - not your parents, your dog or anyone else. Only you have the power to change your story and create the life that you want to lead - so do the things that make you happy, rebel against the nasty things in life and cherish every moment!
Along similar lines of ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’, it doesn't matter how big or small someone seems, even the tiniest mite packs the mightiest sting! Matilda doesn’t let the fact that she’s smaller than her parents stop her from standing up to them and fighting for what she believes is right, so why should you? Never underestimate the power of little girl confidence!
