With International Waffle Day (yes, this is a real day) on the horizon, what better way to prepare for the big day than by rounding up our top five breakfast spots in and around London? There’s no denying that waffles aren’t the healthiest, but it doesn’t mean that once in a while they are a delicious, sweet treat that is perfect on a Sunday morning! What’s your favourite topping? Sweet or savoury? Or if you need some epic inspiration, check out our top five breakfast places in and around London and make sure to try some of the goods on offer yourself! Mmmm.

1. Bubblewrap Waffle

Now, this isn’t strictly a breakfast spot but we couldn’t resist including it in our top five and for good reason too. In the heart of Soho, Bubblewrap is serving up giant bubble shape treats with soft waves of gelato that melt inside your mouth - it’s frankly irresistible. With nutella, chocolate, salted caramel, cream and peanut butter to choose from, you’ll have the chance to get creative and make your dream waffle. Definitely calls for a sugar rush!

2. Bill’s

Head to all-round favourite restaurant Bill’s for a lazy weekend brunch that’s guaranteed to have you and your brood fuelled up for a great day out! Despite not having waffles on the menu, we’re big fans of Bill’s totally delicious and fluffy buttermilk pancakes. Smaller appetites can opt for a stack of three, while those feeling extra hungry can stack up five. Top them off with banana, strawberries and blueberries or smoked streaky bacon, both with lashings of Bill’s special pancake syrup. On top of that, there’s also the Bill’s breakfast (yum!) and lots of other savoury choices.

3. Borough Market

In the heart of London Bridge, you’ll be spoilt for choice at Borough Market! Perfect for budding chefs and foodies, London's oldest food market is a real treat for the senses and great for hungry tums - plus if you’re on the hunt for waffles, Borough Market is full of them! Whether your brood are picky eaters or devour everything in sight, the market is a great way to introduce kids to where food comes from and the people behind its creation. Prepare to go home feeling full to the brim!

4. Bear and Wolf

A little outside the hustle and bustle of London, Bear and Wolf in Tufnell Park is a great place to celebrate International Waffle Day! This family-friendly brunch spot is the perfect place to wile away weekend mornings and even better, on the kids menu, they offer waffles with a choice of banana, strawberries and maple syrup - how we wish we could still eat from the kids menu! Plus, there’s even a little play area for youngsters as well so they can play whilst waiting for their sweet treats!

5. The Breakfast Club

Where could be more perfect to take your kids for a slap-up International Waffle Day feast than at a restaurant dedicated to the best meal of the day – breakfast! At The Breakfast Club in Battersea Rise, delve into a whole new meaning of all day breakfast and indulge in some of the greatest waffles of all time. You'll be spoilt for choice as you scan the menu for all things sweet - just make sure to get there early so you can snag a table in this place! All we’re saying is that when all day breakfast is involved, it can get pretty busy.
