Roll up, roll up! The brilliant Circus 1903 is returning to the Southbank Centre as part of their annual Winter Festival. The team and performers behind Circus 1903 are on a mission to bring back the golden age of circus so the performance is really something special. Think The Greatest Showman meets the impressive creativity of the War Horse production. It's an incredible show perfect for the whole family!
This is a Christmas treat you definitely don’t want to miss, so to give you an idea of what to expect, we’ve put together 5 of the incredible things you’ll see at Circus 1903.
You don’t really get live animals at the circus anymore, but at Circus 1903, you’ll still feel like you’ve come face-to-face with one of nature's giants. The award-winning team behind the War Horse puppets have created the most beautiful and realistic elephants to join the Circus 1903 performers in the ring.
It is just a dangerous as it sounds, but don’t worry, those brave enough to take on the wheel are obviously professionals. You’ll be on the edge of your seat as you watch the performers try and stay on the suspended wheel as it spins through the air. It’s an exciting new addition to the show, especially for 2019!
It’s not a trip to the circus without a few card tricks and surprises pulled out of top-hats. The Circus 1903 Ringleader will amaze you with his magic tricks, pay close attention or you might just miss them. He may even inspire the kids (or grown-ups) to give it a go themselves, this is one thing you probably can try at home.
The Circus 1903 performers are all brilliant, but the acrobats really are something special. Watch in awe as they bend in ways you didn’t think possible and perform routines so mesmerising you’ll be left speechless. You’ll probably wonder whether you can bend like they can but trust us, we’ve tried, you’ll only end up pulling a muscle!
Music has the power to transport you to a whole other world and the team at Circus 1903 definitely know this. They’ve created the most magical soundtrack to their show which really helps to bring it to life. There are also a number of live musicians in the performance that add a brilliantly unique element.
There is so much more to Circus 1903, you’ll just have to go and see for yourself! Just a warning though, don’t blame us if by the end of the show, you actually want to run away and join the circus...
