What to expect

  • One of the biggest London musicals, Hairspray, is coming to the London Coliseum in a highly anticipated production by the Adam Spiegel group.
  • Musical theatre legend Michael Ball returns as Edna Turnblad in this smash-hit ‘60s show that is larger than life in character, song and heart.
  • Hairspray the musical will be on stage at the Coliseum theatre for a strictly limited run, so make sure you don’t miss the beat with this one!

Hairspray the musical has been getting audiences jiving, twisting and mashed-potatoing since its original 1988 book and film by Mark O’Donnell and John Waters. It has since become one of most loved musicals on Broadway and the West End, and now Adam Spiegel Productions will be continuing the Hairspray legacy at London’s Coliseum.

Hairspray’s heartwarming and hair-raising story follows Tracy Turnblad, a girl with big hair and even bigger dreams, as she tries to prove her dancing worth on a hit TV show and catch the eye of teen heartthrob Link Larkin, whilst smashing down stereotypes as she goes. Set in 1962, Hairspray is full to the brim of beehive hairdos, funky hand jives and the best rhythm and blues tunes, including global hits such as ‘You Can’t Stop The Beat’, ‘Good Morning Baltimore’ and ‘Big, Blonde and Beautiful’. This inspirational and completely uplifting musical sees music and dance bringing Baltimore together regardless of size, colour or hairdo, and will certainly have you out of your seat!
