What to expect

  • Set in the newly regenerated Meridian Water in north London, you're just a stone's throw away from both central London and outside the city.
  • Expect massive blockbusters, brilliant pre-recorded theatre and plenty of retro drive-in classics bought directly to your car.
  • A small number of pedestrians and cyclists are also permitted to attend but must purchase the correct tickets to do so.

Take a trip to a bygone era with The Drive In's new outdoor cinema, where soda fountains streamed and girls in poodle skirts twirled as Elvis crooned on diner jukeboxes. Feel the nostalgia of a '50s-style drive-in and experience film in a whole new way.

As well as blockbuster movies screened in retro drive-in cinema style, you can also pull up to watch the best live and pre-recorded theatre shows, comedy acts and tons of family favourite classics. This outdoor cinema has a jam-packed lineup, from Horrible Histories and Dinosaur World Live to drive-in classics like Grease and Dirty Dancing and everything in between.

Aiming to bring live entertainment back with a bang, The Drive In has come up with a unique and inventive way to see the shows you love without having to venture out into a busy crowd. With no-contact food and drink deliveries on site, cashless payments and designated viewing areas per family, you can feel completely at ease at London’s biggest live entertainment experience this year.

What to know before you go

  • Ticket price is per vehicle, not per person.
  • There is a no refund policy, but customers are encouraged to exchange their ticket for another screening in the event of a cancellation. Please await more information via email if a screening is cancelled.
  • Screenings at The Drive In take place come rain or shine. In the unlikely event of a cancellation due to extreme weather, affected customers will be contacted by email and given information on how to exchange their cancelled ticket for another screening. Refunds are not possible if a show or screening is cancelled due to weather.
  • If you can't attend the screening due to illness or self-isolation, you can be exchanged into a different screening of the same movie.
  • When you arrive at The Drive In, speed up the process by having your barcode ready (either printed on paper or on your phone). Your ticket will be scanned through your car window.
  • Doors will open 45 minutes before the start of the film or show, giving you plenty of time to settle in before it begins. Latecomers will not be admitted.
  • Ensure all members of your party are the right age for the film. Staff members may need to see some ID to prove the people in the car are of age. The exception is babies under 12 months, who are permitted in all shows.
  • You will be directed to a parking spot by an attendant. Larger vehicles like SUVs will be positioned further back so as to allow people in smaller cars a good view.
  • Vans and lorries are not permitted.
  • You're welcome to bring your dog to the screening but please don’t bring them if they have a tendency to bark and you are asked not to take them for a walk or toilet break during the showing.
  • The top-of-the-range LED screen will be clearly visible whatever the weather.
  • Sound will be broadcast directly to your car speakers via FM radio. You can also use a portable radio device or a radio application available on your smartphone. You will be shown how to link your radio to the sound system when you arrive.
  • There's a snack bar with food and drinks if you're feeling peckish. Orders can be made on your mobile and will be delivered contact-free straight to your car by a 1950s drive-in attendant. Refreshments include popcorn, burgers, and more. You will receive instructions on how to place a food order when you arrive.
  • You're welcome to bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic drinks too. Neither glass nor alcohol is permitted on site. Please don't leave any rubbish.
  • On-site toilets are available and will be regularly cleaned. Accessible toilets are also available.
  • There are no baby-changing facilities due to strict hygiene standards.
  • If you have time before the performance, why not spend the morning at the nearby Parkside Farm. Kids and adults alike will have a great time picking (and eating!) strawberries.

Getting there

  • The outdoor screen is situated at Troubadour Meridian Water, Harbet Road, London, N18 3QQ.
  • It’s easy to find and is located just off the North Circular (A406).
  • You won’t be able to reserve a parking spot in advance. A member of staff will direct you to a space depending on the size of your car.
  • Visitors will be seated in their own cars for the duration of the performance. All cars will be parked and spaced at least 2 metres apart. Tickets to Drive In screenings and performances are scanned through your closed car window, so there will be no contact at all.
