The Vyne
A magnificent 16th century Tudor manor house surrounded by gardens, woodlands and wetlands. The Vyne counts Jane Austen, Anne Boleyn and Elizabeth I among its past guests and was originally built for Henry VIII's Lord Chamberlain.
The inscribed Roman ring in the house is said to have inspired Tolkien, who began work on the Lord of the Rings days after having visited the house.

West Green House
Kids will be enchanted by the magical gardens surrounding this gorgeous 18th-century manor house. Marvel at the water staircase and magnificent fountain, the Persian water garden nestled in a wooded glade and the oriental Garden of the Five Bridges.

Nuffield Place
Nuffield Place remains the same today as it did during the lifetimes of its last owners Lord Nuffield and his wife. Lord Nuffield founded the Morris Motor Company and the Oxfordshire house is just as he left it; completely furnished, with all their personal possessions still in place.
Beautiful gardens provide ample outdoor space for social distancing and light exercise in the fresh air.

Sandham Memorial Chapel
Check out Stanley Spencer's visionary murals in this little chapel and picnic in its picturesque garden with views over Watership Down. Built in honour of the fallen of the First World War, this small chapel is a treasure to discover with young history and art buffs.
